Fiera del Riso: the 34th Palio delle Contrade elects the best risotto with Nano Vialone Veronese PGI Rice.





The best risotto with Nano Vialone Veronese PGI Rice cooked by amateur cooks from the Veronese territory is elected. Every year, in fact, the Palio delle Contrade – held during the much-awaited Rice Fair – involves amateur cooks from the contrade of Isola della Scala, the heart of Riso Nano Vialone Veronese PGI Rice.

Once again this year, the Palio – now in its 34th edition – involved hundreds of inhabitants in a moment of entertainment, culture and good food. The heartfelt challenge saw the five districts of Isola della Scala take part:

– Tarmassia

– Caselle

– Doltra


– Isola Centro

– Pellegrina

The winner was the Tarmassia contrada led by President Emiliano Leardini, Rita Tezza and Linda Meneghelli, with two traditional recipes: misto bosco and peas and pancetta. Also of note was the recipe for risotto with blue crab, the crustacean on everyone’s lips, proposed by Damiano Fraccaroli of Contrada Caselle.

A gastronomic competition that has been animating the Festa del Riso for more than thirty years, an occasion to demonstrate, once again, how food knows how to unite.
